The proliferation of Factory Reset Protection (FRP) on Android devices has reduced theft incentives but also created barriers for legitimate second-hand device recovery. Tools like SAMFW FRP Tool 3.0 have emerged as unauthorized bypass mechanisms. This paper analyzes the tool’s operational methodology, security implications, and ethical duality. We find that while such tools undermine platform security, they also serve as a critical resource for digital forensics and independent repair.
