Born to a strict academic family, Yukina spent her early years in Tokyo, raised by a mother who demanded perfection and a father who was mostly absent. She was conditioned to believe that "failure means worthlessness." At age 12, she was admitted to St. Lucia Academy, where she was isolated due to her introversion.
In Gou , she becomes Satoko Hojo's first genuine friend at St. Lucia. While other students mock Satoko's rural manners, Yukina finds them refreshingly honest. The two bond over shared loneliness and a love of board games.
