The MG2540s has an internal sponge (waste ink absorber) that collects ink from cleaning cycles. When the printer counts that this sponge is full (error or 5B00 ), it locks down permanently. This is the most critical reset. Note: This requires accessing Service Mode and voids your warranty if still applicable.

If you frequently get the 5B00 error, the physical ink pad inside might be saturated. You may need to clean the ink absorber pad with warm water and let it dry completely.
