Ploypailin Jensen is the eldest daughter of Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya. Her mother famously relinquished her royal titles in 1972 to marry Ploypailin's father, Peter Ladd Jensen, an American. Although Ploypailin and her siblings are officially commoners, they are traditionally treated with royal respect in Thailand.
