Roll back to YouTube v17.09.37 (Sept 2022). It's the last version that works with Lollipop's WebView.

It works, but 2026 will likely be the final year of functional support for Lollipop YouTube. Youtube For Android 5.1.1

There are community-developed apps designed specifically for older hardware that don't rely on official Google Play Services. Roll back to YouTube v17
